Ten-Day Siri Dalada Vandana Begins Today (18) in Kandy

COLOMBO (News 1st); Starting today (18), the revered Siri Dalada Vandana ceremony will offer devotees the opportunity to pay homage to the sacred Tooth Relic in the historic city of Kandy. 

The ten-day Sacred Veneration of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha aims to bestow blessings upon people worldwide and is being held for the first time in 16 years.

The ceremony will commence this afternoon at the Sri Dalada Maligawa following special religious observances. 

The event will be attended by the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters, along with the Maha Sangha. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is also expected to participate in this auspicious occasion.

Devotees will have the opportunity to venerate the sacred Tooth Relic from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM today. 

From tomorrow until April 27, the Siri Dalada Vandana will be held daily from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

In preparation for this event, the Temple Of The Sacred Tooth Relic and the city of Kandy have been meticulously readied over the past few weeks.

Three access routes have been designated for devotees to view and receive blessings from the sacred Tooth Relic.

The Kandy Municipal Council has ensured that all necessary facilities are available for the devotees arriving in Kandy for the Siri Dalada Vandana ceremony.
