Colombo (News1st): Another phase of releasing lands used by the Sri Lanka Army in the North and East, which does not compromise national security took place in Mullaitivu today (December 18).
The release of lands took place based on the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.
Over 52 acres of land held by the military in the Mullaitivu District were returned to their original owners. The Sri Lanka Army has planned to release around of 263.55 acres of land before the 31st of this month.
They state that 90% of private lands and 79% of state lands that had been occupied by the military has already been released.
