Case against Basil Rajapaksa postponed

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The case filed against Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and three others was postponed to the 15th of March 2019. They have been accused of misappropriating Rs. 2.99 Billion from the Divineguma Development Department for the distribution of roofing sheets among beneficiaries during the 2015 Presidential Election. The order was made by the Colombo High Court Judge Ratnapriya Gurusinghe. The Attorney General has asked for the postponement as Deputy Solicitor General Thusith Mudalige who leads the prosecution is presently appearing for other cases at the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar. The defendants are Basil Rajapaksa, Kithsiri Ranawaka , Bandula Thilakasiri and Dr. Nihal Jayatilleke.
