"Speaker should be accused of forging documents" - MP Mahinda Yapa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - MPs of the UPFA commented on what went on in parliament yesterday (November 16) at a press briefing convened at the Prime Ministers office. UPFA MP Bandula Gunawardana questioned if people have ever seen or even heard of an incident in the history of parliament where the Speaker comes into the chamber with a police guard and the mace to approve a motion. Gunawardene continued to question if anyone has ever witnessed a situation in which the speaker comes from the back door with the mace and tries to obtain certain approvals inconsistent with the constitution by the sound of the majority. He added saying what would become of our country if the International community accepts this situation. Meanwhile, UPFA MP Johnston Fernando said that Ranil Wickremesinghe has carried on for three and a half years with great difficulty. He continued to say that since 2010 he has been appointing other people as candidates adding that incapable have taken over the country and destroyed it. UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the current speaker should be accused of forging documents adding that he had presented a fake agenda to the parliament. Also commenting on the matter UPFA MP Udaya Gammanpila said that yesterday the speaker had done one thing right. Instead of sitting in the middle and saying he is impartial. He stood on the UNP side just like a UNP MP and showed his true colours to the world.
