Emil Ranjan Lamahewa further remanded

Colombo (News1st): Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage today (October 02) ordered former Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan Lamahewa to be further remanded until the 16th of this month. The former prisons commissioner was arrested in connection to the deaths of 27 inmates of the Welikada Prison during the 2012 Welikada Prison riots. The Additional Magistrate issued the order taking into account facts presented by the Criminal Investigations Department explaining that they are yet to receive the Government Analyst’s report on the firearms and ammunition used in the incident. IP Neomal Rangajeewa who was granted bail on the 25th of September was also present at the hearing today.
