COLOMBO (News 1st) - A women who attempted to smuggle 22 packets of heroin into the Mt. Lavinia magistrate's court was arrested today (July 24th). The Heroin was discovered during a body search carried out as the suspect was entering the court premises.
It was later revealed that the suspect had arrived at the court complex to attend her husband's trial. The suspect's husband is currently in remand custody in connection to the possession of Heroin.
The 26-year-old is currently in the custody of the Mt. Lavinia police.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old individual from Borella was arrested near the Bandaranayakapura Community Hall in Borella, along with a stock of Heroin weighing 201g that
is
worth over 2.4 million rupees.
The suspect is alleged to be a close associate of "Keselwatte Lasaa" who is in remand custody. The arrested suspect is due to be produced before the courts today (July 24).
