Foreign employment scammer arrested

Colombo (News1st) - A woman who defrauded nearly Rs 10 million from a number of people under the promise of providing employment for them in Australia was arrested by the special investigations unit of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment. According to the Investigations unit, the suspect was arrested in the vicinity of the Department of Immigration-Emigration in Battaramulla based on a tip-off received. The suspect was in possession of over Rs. 2 million at the time of arrest. The suspect was remanded till the 24th of this month after being produced before the Matara magistrate's court.
