World's largest aircraft lands in Mattala

COLOMBO (News 1^st) -The World's largest cargo aircraft, the Antonov An-225 Mriya has landed at the Mattala Airport for refueling. The Antonov An-225 Mriya is a strategic airlift cargo aircraft. The aircraft which weighs 700 tonnes landed at the Mattala airport while en route to Karachchi from Malaysia. The aircraft that is equipped with six engines is due to travel back to Malaysia tomorrow (April 19). The Antonov An-225 Mriya is a unique transport airlifter which was designed and constructed during the 1984-1988 period. The aircraft can carry a total of  250 tonnes and currently holds a number of record in this field including one for the "transportation of the heaviest cargo  253 tons."   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLNssKLtZeg
