Gotabaya Requests Foreign Travel Ban Be Removed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa filed a motion before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court seeking the removal of the overseas travel ban imposed on him.

Through the application, Rajapaksa has requested that the court lift the travel restriction to enable him to travel to Singapore for follow-up medical treatment required after undergoing heart surgery.

Approximately four months ago, the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court imposed a foreign travel ban on Gotabaya Rajapaksa in connection with legal proceedings relating to allegations that authorities had failed to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
