Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath to Address UN General Assembly Today (28)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly today.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Minister will present Sri Lanka’s current foreign policy priorities and the Government’s position on global issues to the international community.

The 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly began on the 22nd of September.

This year’s session is being held under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all”.

Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath left for New York, United States, the day before yesterday to attend the UN General Assembly.

Meanwhile, Minister Herath is also scheduled to hold discussions with the Foreign Ministers of several countries and senior United Nations officials to strengthen cooperation.

The United Nations General Assembly is one of the world’s foremost international platforms, bringing countries together in a multilateral forum to discuss global peace, security, development, human rights and international cooperation.
