Sri Lanka to Seek International Support to Prepare for Potential Droughts

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Environment Dr. Dammika Patabedi says Sri Lanka is prepared to seek international assistance to face potential drought conditions in the future.

He said the matter was discussed at the United Nations conference on drought and desertification held recently in Mongolia.

Accordingly, the Minister said Sri Lanka will seek assistance through a fund that is expected to be established by the organization.

He added that the support would help provide the necessary infrastructure and other facilities to address future drought conditions.
