PM Orders Action to Fill University Vacancies

COLOMBO (News1st);Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has instructed Vice-Chancellors to take necessary measures to efficiently fill existing vacancies within universities.

The Prime Minister gave these instructions while participating in the sub-committee related to the higher education sector under the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister questioned the Vice-Chancellors regarding the failure to make appointments to date for the vacancies approved by the Ministry.

Meanwhile, she also emphasized that steps must be taken during investigations into university ragging in a manner that instills confidence in victimized students.

The Prime Minister further stressed that the university administration bears a moral responsibility to curb ragging within universities.
