COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colombo Crime Division says two separate investigative teams have been deployed to conduct further inquiries into a suspect believed to be an associate of the organized crime figure known as "Sedawatte Kasun," following the discovery of a large stock of narcotics.
According to the Colombo Crime Division, the ongoing investigations are focused on individuals who allegedly received money from the suspect, as well as additional intelligence and information linked to the seized narcotics.
The suspect is also expected to be produced before the Hultsdorp Magistrate's Court today, where investigators are due to seek detention orders to facilitate further questioning.
The 38-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday (2) in the Sedawatte area of Wellampitiya while allegedly in possession of a stock of Ice (crystal methamphetamine) and heroin.
The arrest was made during a special operation conducted by the Colombo Crime Division.
Police stated that a search of the suspect's residence led to the recovery of 4 kilograms of heroin, 8 kilograms of Ice narcotics and Rs. 300,000 in cash.
Investigators further believe that the suspect is an associate of Sedawatte Kasun, who is currently believed to be residing in Dubai.
