COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two suspects arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of a Chinese national at Colombo Port City have been placed under 24-hour detention orders after being produced before the Hulftsdorp No. 8 Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Police said that operations are underway to trace the remaining suspect wanted in connection with the murder.
Out of the three suspects sought over the abduction and murder of the Chinese national at the Colombo Port City, two were arrested on August 28.
They were apprehended during an operation conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division in Sigiriya .
Police revealed that the two Chinese suspects were arrested following a lengthy investigation.
According to police disclosures, following the murder, the suspects had remained in the country while altering their appearances and names.
According to police, the incident occurred on the night of July 22, when three Chinese nationals were fishing on a bridge in Colombo Port City. A group of other Chinese nationals allegedly arrived in a van, assaulted the three men, tied up their hands and legs, and abducted one of them.
The victim’s body was later discovered in Karadana, Eheliyagoda.
The post-mortem examination revealed that death was caused by injuries to internal organs resulting from stab wounds.
It was subsequently revealed that the murdered Chinese national, named Hao Song, was an individual involved in computer crimes.
Two Chinese nationals had also been previously arrested in connection with the incident.
