Over 18kg of ‘Ice’ Seized in Bandarabame by STF; Suspected Link to ‘Dubai Ravishka’ Drug Network

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Police Special Task Force has arrested a key associate of a major drug trafficking network operated by an overseas-based kingpin, ‘Dubai Ravishka’, and seized over 18kg of ‘Ice’ worth millions of rupees in Bandaragama.

Acting on crucial intelligence received by officers of the Horana Camp-based Headquarters Special Operations Unit, the STF conducted a raid yesterday, August 18, at a house in Maswila, Vendesi Watta, Bandaragama.

During the operation, officers recovered a large stock of Ice, or crystal methamphetamine, weighing 18 kilograms and 672 grams that had been concealed inside the residence.

A digital weighing scale and two mobile phones, suspected to have been used for drug trafficking and distribution, were also taken into police custody.

The suspect arrested by the team led by the Deputy Officer-in-Charge of the Headquarters Special Operations Unit is a 23-year-old resident of Maswila.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect was operating as a main local operative for ‘Dubai Ravishka’, who is currently hiding in Dubai. The suspect is also believed to be linked to the organized crime and drug network run by ‘Kudu Salindu.’

The arrested suspect, the drug consignment, and other exhibits have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
