Kanjipani Imran To Be Brought Back To Sri Lanka Soon

COLOMBO(News 1st): Deputy Minister of Defence Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara says that Kanjipani Imran, an organised criminal who fled the country, will be brought back to Sri Lanka very soon.

Speaking at a meeting in Hambantota, he said that 58 criminals wanted under Interpol Red Notices have been repatriated to Sri Lanka so far.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, alleged that political figures in the previous administration had maintained links with dangerous criminals and an LTTE figure, raising questions over the state of the rule of law at the time.

He said 58 dangerous criminals wanted under Red Notices have been brought back to Sri Lanka, including several major underworld and drug-trafficking suspects.

Jayasekara said the Government is now targeting the leadership of major criminal networks and dismantling them, claiming that these efforts have created fear among those involved in organised crime.

He stressed that bringing highly dangerous criminals back to Sri Lanka required significant effort and said the Government’s actions demonstrate the authority and supremacy of the rule of law.

He made these remarks while addressing the Hambantota District meeting of the “Adhitana Tri-Forces Collective.”
