University of the Visual and Performing Arts Temporarily Closed Over Dengue

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo has been temporarily closed due to the spread of dengue and influenza among students.

Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Madura Seneviratne, said the university will remain closed until July 13.

University hostels will also be closed during this period.

The Deputy Minister noted that spread of Dengue has increased in areas surrounding the university hostels located in Rajagiriya and Dehiwala.

The Ministry of Education stated that around 30 students of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts have contracted dengue.
