COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Education has confirmed that there will be no postponement of the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, despite requests from various parties to delay the process.
According to the Ministry, Teacher’s Guides issued by the National Institute of Education state that 300 school days are required to adequately complete the Advanced Level syllabus.
However, for students sitting the 2026 examination, a total of 343 school days are available from the official start of teaching activities up to August 7th, 2026.
The Ministry also noted that repeat candidates sitting the exam for the second or third time have been given a preparation period of four months and 10 days between the release of the previous results and the upcoming examination date.
Based on these factors, the Ministry of Education has stated that sufficient time has been provided for preparation, and therefore there is no need to revise or postpone the scheduled examination period.
The 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination is set to commence on the 10th of August as planned.
