COLOMBO (News 1st); The main suspect and a female suspect linked to the discovery of 19 locally manufactured firearms and 24 T-56 rounds, which had been hidden inside a house in the Dematagoda area, have been arrested.
They were apprehended by a team of officers from the Western Province North Crime Division while they were hiding at a lodging facility in the Kataragama area.
The 28-year-old male and female suspects are residents of the Wellampitiya area.
Police stated that a three-wheeler used by the suspects in carrying out these criminal activities has also been taken into custody.
On the 3rd of this month, following the discovery of the weapons at a house in the Dematagoda area, more than 100,000 illicit pills along with 15 grams and 200 milligrams of heroin were also seized, and one suspect along with two female suspects and another male suspect linked to aiding and abetting the illegal operation were arrested.
They are currently being held in remand custody.
