Man Escapes with Rs. 35M In Cash Stolen from State Bank in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); A shocking daylight robbery was reported in Horana after a sum of Rs. 35 million was snatched from officials of a state bank while being transported between branches.

According to Police Spokesman SSP F.U. Wootler, the incident took place at around 2:45 p.m., when bank staff had taken out two bags containing cash from the bank premises.

The money was reportedly being transported to two separate bank branches.

Police stated that at the moment the cash was being moved, a suspect who had arrived on foot suddenly approached and managed to grab both bags containing the money.

The suspect subsequently fled the scene with the cash. A police investigation is underway.
