55 Rescued After Blaze Engulfs Home For Elders in Batagoda

COLOMBO (News 1st); A fire has broken out at an elderly care home in Batagoda, Aguruwatota, triggering a large-scale emergency response.
Police Spokesman SSP F.U. Wootler confirmed that 55 individuals were rescued from the facility and admitted to hospital following the incident.
Three individuals remain unaccounted for, prompting ongoing search and rescue operations at the site.
The Fire Brigade stated that five fire engines were deployed to the location to bring the blaze under control.
