Prime Minister Urges Nation To Work For Common Good This Vesak

COLOMBO (News 1st);The Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya , in her Vesak message, says that this Vesak season should be an opportunity to illuminate not only the external world, but also one’s own heart with compassion, kindness, and wisdom.

She stated that this period should be used to eliminate greed, hatred, and delusion, and to transform society into one guided by peace, serenity, and the teachings of the Dhamma.

The Prime Minister further emphasized the importance of moving beyond narrow beliefs and working towards the common good, noting that this year’s State Vesak theme reflects current social needs.

She also called for building a nation rooted in righteousness and the values of the Dhamma, with blessings and strength drawn from Vesak to overcome social and economic challenges.
