COLOMBO (News 1st); The Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, arrived in Sri Lanka last night (18) on a three-day official visit, scheduled to continue until May 21.
This morning, the visiting Air Chief Marshal paid floral tributes at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Battaramulla.
Following this, he arrived at Air Force Headquarters, where he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour. An official meeting was subsequently held between the Commanders of the Indian and Sri Lanka Air Forces.
During the visit, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh also met with the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Defence Secretary.
The visit has been organised with the objective of further strengthening the longstanding defence cooperation and mutual friendship between Sri Lanka and India.
As part of his itinerary, the Indian Air Force Chief is also scheduled to pay homage and seek blessings at the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. He is also expected to meet with the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy.
