Dengue Threat Rises: 42 High-Risk Zones Identified Islandwide

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) of the Ministry of Health states that 42 high-risk dengue zones have been identified across the island.

Dr. Kapila Kannangara, the Acting Director of the National Dengue Control unit, noted that 27,465 dengue cases have been reported so far this year. 

He further mentioned that 14 deaths have been recorded due to the disease.

Dr. Kannangara warned that the number of dengue patients could rise in the coming days due to the prevailing rainy conditions.=

The highest number of dengue patients has been reported from the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts. 

Specifically, 5,930 cases have been reported from the Colombo district, 4,465 from the Gampaha district and 1,572 from the Kalutara district.
