COLOMBO (News 1st); A special mosquito control program will be implemented in high-risk dengue zones from today.
Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, Consultant Specialist at the National Dengue Control Unit, stated that 43 Medical Officer of Health divisions have been identified as high-risk dengue areas.
She also noted that dengue cases have increased in six districts.
The number of dengue patients reported so far this year is 26,071.
The National Dengue Control Unit said that 13 dengue-related deaths have also been reported.
Dr. Prashila Samaraweera urged the public to keep their surroundings clean to help prevent the spread of dengue mosquitoes.
