COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate all coal procurement deals since 2009 has decided to call for information from the general public starting next Monday, 4th May 2026.
Secretary of the Commission, P.V. Bandulasena, stated that the public can submit relevant information either in person or by post to the Commission of Inquiry Office, to the address - 5th Floor, Hulfsdorp Court Complex, located in Sanchi Arachchi Watte, Court Road, Colombo 12.
Furthermore, a dedicated email address will be introduced in the future to facilitate digital submissions.
The Secretary also noted that the commission has already begun gathering data from previous probes and audits conducted by various parties, including the Auditor General, regarding the coal importation process.
The Presidential Commission vested with full powers is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga.
The other members of the commission include Justice at the Court of Appeal Aditya Patabendige and High Court Justice Sanjeewa Somaratne.
