Chinese Businessman Arrested at BIA with Illicit Cigarettes Worth Over 30Mn Rupees

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake arrested a foreign national for illegally smuggling a stock of cigarettes valued at over Rs. 30 million into the country.

The suspect has been identified as a 35-year-old Chinese businessman.

Upon inspections officials discovered 1,149 cartons containing 229,800 cigarettes in eight different brands concealed in 13 luggages belonging to the suspect.
