Iran Declares Strait of Hormuz Fully Open; Trump Says 'Thank You'

COLOMBO (News 1st); Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open to commercial shipping during the remaining period of the ceasefire in Lebanon.

In a statement posted on social media, Foriegn Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that, in line with the ceasefire, all commercial vessels are permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz without restriction, using the coordinated route previously announced by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said the passage has been declared “completely open” for the duration of the ceasefire.

Shortly after the announcement, US President Donald Trump also commented publicly, stating that Iran had announced the Strait is “fully open and ready for full passage,” and welcomed the development.
