CCTV Monitoring Intensified To Catch Speeding Drivers On Expressways

COLOMBO (News 1st);Police state that investigations are underway regarding those driving at high speeds and in a dangerous manner on expressways.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of Traffic Control and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera, stated that steps are being taken to identify such vehicles using CCTV cameras. He added that police officers have also been deployed near expressway entrances.

A special program is currently in operation to minimize traffic congestion as people travel to their hometowns during the festive season. The DIG emphasized that the law will be strictly enforced against those driving dangerously. He also urged both drivers and pedestrians to take necessary precautions to reduce accidents.

DIG W.P.J. Senadheera made these remarks during an interview with News 1st on accident prevention.
