LAUGFS Gas Raises LPG Prices Amid Global Energy Turbulence

COLOMBO (News 1st) - LAUGFS Gas PLC has announced a significant increase in domestic LPG prices, effective midnight on April 5, 2026, following a similar hike by Litro Gas. 

The move comes as global energy markets face rising geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

In the Colombo District, the new prices are:

12.5 kg cylinder: Rs. 5,700 (up Rs. 1,070)

5 kg cylinder: Rs. 2,280 (up Rs. 418)

LAUGFS cited global market factors, including rising Saudi Aramco benchmark prices, restricted shipping due to regional tensions, and increased demand across Asia, alongside domestic fuel and electricity costs, as drivers of the hike.

The company assured customers that efforts were made to absorb costs internally and pledged to monitor global developments to pass on any favorable changes.
