Extreme Heat Alert Issued for Multiple Regions Amid Health Concerns

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology warns that the heat index, will remain at an 'extreme caution' level in several parts of the island today.

According to the department, the affected areas include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Anuradhapura, Mannar, Vavuniya, and Monaragala districts. Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, Consultant Psychiatrist of the Galle Karapitiya Hospital, Dr. Rumi Ruben, stated that the prevailing intense heat across the country could lead to mental confusion or psychological distress among the public.
