COLOMBO (News 1st) - The daughter and son-in-law of a Jaffna University lecturer have been arrested in connection with her murder.
According to Police, the victim's son filed a complaint on March 19, reporting his mother missing and stating his suspicions regarding his sister and her husband.
Acting on this lead, police apprehended the couple in Trincomalee and launched an investigation.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to killing the woman at her residence and dumping the body in a thicket in the Thanamkilappu, Chavakachcheri.
The body has since been recovered and magistrate conducted inquiries this afternoon.
The victim was identified as a 54-year-old lecturer in Ayurvedic Medicine at the University of Jaffna.
