Man Arrested In Mt. Lavinia For Plotting Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police have arrested a suspect in Mount Lavinia who is alleged to have been preparing for an assassination attempt. The operation was carried out by the Special Task Force following intelligence about a planned attack.

Authorities say the 18-year-old suspect, a resident of Mount Lavinia, was allegedly targeting a businessman from Dehiwala known as “Larry.” During the raid, police seized a locally manufactured 9mm firearm, components of a pistol, one T-56 magazine, and 30 rounds of live T-56 ammunition.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities working to uncover further details of the alleged plot.
