Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Rathna Gamage, says that the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation and the Department of Fisheries have been instructed to issue fuel to fishermen scheduled to depart today, tomorrow, or in the coming days, upon submission of their Departure Clearance documents.
He emphasized that this measure is intended to prevent any disruption to fishing activities and urged fishermen to obtain fuel through the proper procedure rather than engaging in unnecessary hoarding.
The Deputy Minister appealed to the fishing community not to panic, assuring them that sufficient fuel will be provided for their voyages.
He further stated that the current administration is committed to being transparent with the public, noting that any challenges will be communicated honestly. He urged both the fishing community and the general public not to be misled by rumors or attempts to create unrest.
