COLOMBO (News 1st) - The motor vehicle that was set on fire in the Baddegama , Galle is scheduled to be presented to the Government Analyst for forensic investigations.
Police suspect the vehicle was used by the gunmen involved in the recent shooting in Akuregoda, Thalangama.
Investigators stated that several suspects linked to the incident have already been identified.
The deceased were Attorney Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his spouse, who were residents of Pore, Athurugiriya.
The couple was shot dead around 4:50 PM on the 13th of February, in the parking lot of a supermarket in Akuregoda.
Two gunmen from a group arriving in a car carried out the shooting before fleeing the scene.
Investigations have revealed that the assassination was allegedly orchestrated by the organized criminal known as "Karandeniya Sudda."
Police have deployed 10 specialized teams to apprehend the suspects involved including officers from Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Special Task Force (STF), Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) andTerrorism Investigation Division (TID)
Meanwhile, The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has decided to summon all its members to Colombo today in relation to the incident.
Attorney Rajeev Amarasuriya, President of the BASL, stated that the meeting has been called to clarify the association's official stance and response regarding the recent shooting incident in Akuregoda.
