Sectoral Oversight Committee Grants Approval for Bill to Abolish MP Pensions

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Governance, Justice, and Civil Security has approved the bill to Abolish Parliamentary pensions. 

The Chairman of the committee, Dr. Najith Indika, stated that the bill is scheduled to be presented to Parliament next week.

Minister Bimal Rathnayake previously announced that the bill is set to be tabled in Parliament on 17th February. 

The bill is expected to be debated and passed on the same day.
