Gammadda ‘Care & Dare’ Phase 2 in Badulla

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special humanitarian programme organized to uplift communities affected by disasters caused by Cyclone Ditwah - Gammadda: Care & Dare enters its second phase starting today, running for three days in the Badulla District. 

The first phase of the Care & Dare initiative was successfully carried out recently in Kotmale, benefiting thousands of people. 

Under Phase II, the programme will be conducted:

Today at Passara Central College

Tomorrow at Madolsima Tamil Maha Vidyalaya

Monday (Jan 26) at Divurumpola Rajamaha Viharaya in Welimada

The programme will offer medical services, counselling, legal assistance, and relief support to those affected by the disaster. 

Special counselling services will also be provided to individuals who have lost their sources of income and self-employment opportunities.

The National Apprenticeship and Technical Training Authority (NAITA) is partnering with Gammadda for this initiative. 

In addition, the Passara Divisional Secretariat will join today’s programme to issue important documents, including birth certificates that were lost during the disaster.

The Passara MOH Office will also provide special services for pregnant mothers and young children.

Today’s programme further includes the distribution of dry rations, household items, and hygiene kits to affected families.
