Our Satyagraha Will Continue Until Victory is Achieved, A Statement From Wimal

COLOMBO (News 1st); National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa today launched an indefinite ‘Satyagraha’ outside the Ministry of Education, demanding the immediate withdrawal of proposed education reforms and the resignation of the Education Minister.

Addressing the media from the protest site, the former Minister struck a defiant tone when questioned about his ultimate strategy should the government refuse to meet his demands.

"We will tell you that at the right time," Weerawansa told reporters. "However, we will continue this fight till the end, until we have achieved victory! I guarantee you that."

The protest has already drawn comparisons to Weerawansa’s previous high-profile demonstrations. During a tense exchange, journalists pointed out that this is the third such major sit-in led by the NFF leader.

When asked if those previous efforts were truly successful and what would make this time any different, Weerawansa remained concise, simply stating: "This is a Satyagraha."
