Family Feud Turns Fatal: Father Sets Home on Fire

COLOMBO (News 1st); Anuradhapura was rocked by a horrifying incident early this (6) morning when a family dispute escalated into a deadly act of arson in the Galenbindunuwewa, Padikaramaduwa area. 

Police confirmed that a father, mother, and their teenage daughter lost their lives after the man allegedly set fire to the family home using kerosene or petrol.

According to investigators, the father—aged 43—had been living separately from his wife following a history of domestic violence.

Authorities revealed that the couple had previously been arrested over such disputes but were later reconciled through court mediation.

The inferno claimed the lives of the father and his 13-year-old daughter at the scene, while the mother, aged 36, succumbed to severe burn injuries after being rushed to hospital. 

Two other children and a grandmother sustained serious burn wounds and are currently receiving treatment.

Police suspect the attack was premeditated, triggered by ongoing family tensions.
