Rains Trigger Surge in Dengue Cases:Over 500 Dengue Cases Reported Within First Two Days of 2026

COLOMBO (News1st): 581 dengue patients have been reported across the island during the first two days of the new year 2026. 

Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, Community Physician at the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), says that the highest number of patients is being reported from the Western Province.

According to Dr.Samaraweera, the number of dengue cases has risen due to the recent rainy conditions.
