Special Traffic Plan in Place For New Year’s Eve

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have announced a special security and traffic management plan for Colombo city and surrounding areas tonight (31), as thousands are expected to flock to the capital for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

According to police, approximately 1,200 officers will be deployed for traffic control and security duties across key locations.

The move aims to minimize congestion and ensure public safety, as a surge in vehicles and crowds is anticipated.

The plan will cover major zones including Fort, Pettah, Kompanna Veediya, Maradana, Colpetty, Bambalapitiya, and Cinnamon Gardens, with special attention to Galle Face Green, where large gatherings are expected for the midnight festivities.
