COLOMBO (News 1st); The Police say a special security and traffic plan will be implemented in the Colombo city area tomorrow.
Police said around 1,200 officers will be deployed for traffic control and security duties.
A large influx of people and vehicles is expected in Colombo tomorrow to celebrate the New Year.
The Sri Lanka Police said the special traffic and security plans are aimed at minimizing congestion and ensuring public safety.
Police warned that heavy traffic congestion is expected, particularly in the Fort, Pettah, Slave Island Maradana, Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya and Kurunduwatta police divisions.
However, traffic will operate as usual in these areas, and the special traffic plan will be enforced only if severe congestion occurs.
Police also stated that parking on sidewalks or in a manner that obstructs main roads in Colombo City is strictly prohibited, and legal action will be taken against motorists who violate traffic regulations.
