COLOMBO (News 1st); Jamuni Kamanta Thushara, Chairman of the Citizens’ Power Organization Against Bribery and Corruption, appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today to provide a statement on a high-profile complaint.

The complaint, originally filed on 16 September 2025, calls for a full investigation into the assets and liabilities of six sitting government ministers under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 23 of 2023.

Explaining the organization’s stance, Thushara said the complaint was driven by four key objectives:

To observe how the government responds when allegations target its own ministers.

To test whether the Bribery Commission truly functions independently and investigates political authorities without bias.

To challenge the narrative that NPP/JVP MPs have no assets, as the public has never seen their official declarations.

To verify whether declared assets are genuine or fabricated to mask potential misconduct.

He stressed that the investigation must determine how these assets were acquired and whether they are legitimate, naming the ministers in question:

Bimal Rathnayake, Wasantha Samarasinghe, Kumara Jayakody, Sunil Handunnetti, Sunil Watagala, and Nalinda Jayatissa.
