COLOMBO (News 1st) - The departure tax imposed on passengers travelling via the Mattala International Airport has been removed with effect from today.
The Ministry of Finance has issued a special circular confirming that the USD 60 departure tax will no longer be levied on passengers departing from the country through the Mattala Airport.
According to the circular, this will remain in force until June 26 next year.
The decision has been taken with the aim of attracting more airlines and passengers to the Mattala International Airport.
