Expert Committee Appointed to Probe Ondansetron Use

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Health says a seven-member expert committee has been appointed to carry out further investigations into the drug Ondansetron, the use of which has been temporarily suspended in Sri Lanka.

Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni said the committee will look into the incident in which two deaths were reported after the use of Ondansetron, as well as assess possible complications linked to the drug.

He also noted that nearly 200,000 people across the country have used Ondansetron so far.
