Parliament to Discuss Rs. 500 Billion Supplementary Estimate for 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st): A supplementary estimate of Rs. 500 billion for the year 2026 is scheduled to be presented to Parliament tomorrow to restore public life disrupted by the recent disaster situation. 

At the request of the Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Parliament will convene tomorrow and is scheduled to meet the following day. 

The decision was made during the Committee on Parliamentary Business meeting held today, chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

An adjournment debate will be held regarding the current state of the country following the calamities caused by adverse weather conditions in tomorrow's parliamentary debate session. 

The Rs. 500 billion supplementary estimate is scheduled to be debated and passed in Parliament on December 19.
