IAF’s C-17 Brings Field Hospital and Medical Teams To Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Indian Air Force (IAF) has stepped up its humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka, delivering critical medical support and essential supplies to flood-hit areas.

An IAF C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft landed in Colombo carrying a self-contained, modular Para Field Hospital, complete with ambulances, trauma care units, and operation theatres, along with 73 medical and support personnel.

This rapidly deployable hospital, airlifted from Agra, is designed to provide urgent medical care in disaster zones and will be operational tomorrow in areas devastated by floods and landslides.

The field hospital was formally handed over to Sri Lankan authorities by Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, reinforcing India’s commitment to stand by its neighbor during this crisis.

IAF helicopters have also been instrumental in relief operations, transporting 8,250 kg of essential supplies to affected regions and conducting daring rescue missions. Among those evacuated were 60 survivors, including five children, critically ill patients, and a pregnant woman.

The rescued individuals included three Australian nationals and two German nationals, highlighting the global impact of these efforts.
