Kelani River Flood Alert: Move to Safety, Avoid Sightseeing

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Kelani River’s southern embankment is experiencing water levels at their maximum threshold, prompting authorities to issue an urgent advisory for residents in nearby areas.

The Director of the Hydrology Unit at the Irrigation Department, L.S. Suriya Bandara, warned to move to safety immediately if living are in vulnerable areas.

He also warned not to visit the flood protection bund for sightseeing under any circumstances.

Officials emphasize that the situation is being closely monitored and all precautionary measures are in place.
