Man Arrested for Purchasing Land Using Illicit Funds

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has arrested an individual who allegedly purchased a plot of land worth Rs. 25 million in Warahengoda, Mahara using money obtained through illegal means.

The suspect is a 33-year-old resident of Aramaya Road, Colombo 09.

According to the Illegal Assets Investigation Division, orders have been issued to freeze the property purchased in the suspect’s name, for a period of up to seven days under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
