Suspect Who Assaulted Police Sergeant Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect who allegedly assaulted a Police Sergeant from the Traffic Division of the Anuradhapura Police Station, who was engaged in traffic duty has been arrested.

According to the Police, the assault occurred last night opposite a school in Anuradhapura when the sergeant was inspecting a motorcycle.

Accordingly, the motorcyclist attacked the Police Sergeant's right arm with a sharp weapon.

The Police Sergeant, who sustained injuries, is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court today.
